Discover the history of the Jewish community in the Goriška region.
We will on a guided tour along the paths of the rich Jewish cultural heritage in the Goriška region, connecting the Synagogue in Gorizia, Italy with the former Jewish cemetery in Rožna Dolina, Slovenia. The Paris Peace Treaty in 1947 divided the area that was united for centuries, as well as the Jewish community in Gorizia—the synagogue remained in Gorizia, Italy, and the Jewish cemetery in Rožna Dolina in former Yugoslavia. During the tour, we will learn about the rich history of the Jewish presence, the prominent individuals of the community, their activities and their involvement in the city life.
The guided tour will be led by Lorenzo Drascek and Renato Podbersič in Slovene and Italian.
The tour will take place every the first Sunday of the month from April to November 2025. It will start at the Synagogue of Gorizia (Via Graziadio Isaia Ascoli, 19, 34170 Gorizia, Italy).
